A Wonderful Service of Thanksgiving for a Great Champion of Good

On Monday, February 27, 2023, Rev. Dr. Marcus Braybrooke hosted a wonderful Service of Thanksgiving for his recently departed wife, Mary Braybrooke.

The Braybrookes from near Oxford, England, have been involved in interfaith work for nearly fifty years. Both Dr. Braybrooke and Mary are longtime friends of IRFWP and its predecessor organizations, and kindly extended an invitation for Twelve Gates President, Frank Kaufmann to attend Thanksgiving Services in honor of Mary. Mary was ever by the side of Dr. Braybrooke, and in like fashion became a good friend and valuable contributor to interfaith efforts the world over through the years.

Dr. Braybrooke is a pioneer and pillar of the interfaith movement, known the world over for his leadership and scholarship. Dr. Braybrook served as president of the World Congress of Faiths, executive director of the Council of Christians and Jews, co-founder of the Three Faiths Forum, and patron of the International Interfaith Centre at Oxford. Professor Braybrooke is the author of over forty books on world religions, including Pilgrimage of Hope: One Hundred Years of Global Interfaith Dialogue (1992). In September 2004 the Archbishop of Canterbury awarded Dr. Braybrooke with the Lambeth Doctorate of Divinity “in recognition of his contribution to the development of interreligious cooperation and understanding throughout the world.”

Services for Mary were profound, elegant, and heartfelt. We are grateful for the Braybrooke family.
