Interfaith relations and religious freedom issues are two very different considerations in the religious world, even though they are closely related.

China's totalitarian and authoritarian rule, exacerbated by surveillance technology extends to all life in China, and so naturally impacts religious life and practice in the country as well.

The Chinese government claims to be " facing a growing threat from domestic cults and radical Islam." Critics however "accuse Beijing of a broader pattern of harassment, detention and abuse."

There is no simple math for creating ideal harmony between political government and this central and pressing human right (religious freedom) so urgently needed for healthy and productive societies. (Frank Kaufmann, editor)
